Recently decided to join the Pulmonary Rehabilitation class in Kirriemuir for a 6-week course, was kind of dreading exercise and not knowing anyone else that would be there.
Met Evie and Pauline, the two lovely ladies from the PR team that were to put us through our paces, which they did for an hour twice a week.
After the first week I never knew how many muscles I hadn’t used for a long time but as the weeks passed things were getting easier. The coffee and tea break with the biscuits after the hours exercise was very welcoming.
They brought in people (if they couldn’t come, Evie and Pauline stepped in) to give talks on relaxation, well being, self management, nutrition etc. which was very informative. Last but not least was the support group which I think most of us will try to go to.
The class - which consisted of 4 ladies, sometimes 5, and 2 gents, sometimes 3 - started to get to know each other's names and where we were from around the 3rd week, by the time we were in our 5th week everyone knew each other and are planning what we would do after the classes were finished.
I will miss this class very much, and urge anyone who gets the chance to attend to go for it! It’s only 4 hours a week, but it has helped so much.
A big thanks to Evie and Pauline who made it fun and kept us going.
