"Best staff and care"

About: Glasgow Royal Infirmary / General Medicine (Wards 3, 4, 5 &46)

(as the patient),

Due to the detriment of my health for the first time in my life I was admitted to the Royal Infirmary hospital in Glasgow and was in ward 4. It was an extremely difficult time for me mentally, emotionally, physically and I was scared.

All of the staff were out of this world - from the nurses, student nurses, health support workers, porters, domestic staff, tea and food staff members.

Every member of staff I encountered showed me warmth, care, compassion, empathy and were supportive, patient and kind. They work so hard day and night to help all patients in the ward, sometimes patients were not so kind with their words because they were suffering, but staff were still sympathetic and remained professional at all times.

Regardless of my pain, my stay was positive due to the staff and I can never express my gratitude in words. I was involved in decisions regarding my health needs and they did everything to help me recover and I was monitored very well. If I had any questions there was always someone to help with my queries and didn't make me feel silly no matter what I asked.

I shared a ward 4 with a few other patients who were wonderful, I could see they were in so much pain yet they still made me smile and were just lovely. During my stay yes there was a long waiting period but I was aware that there were hundreds of patients to be seen and I would be attended to eventually because it is a hospital ran by the national health service who are inundated with patients and that is the reality of it. I was so grateful to have a bed, bathroom facilities, food, drink and medical attention and this is what needs to be recognised because the NHS do what they can and nobody wants to be in hospital sick.

I would not change anything about the health care I received at the Royal Infirmary Glasgow hospital because all of the wonderful staff in ward 4 are a credit to the NHS, they are ones we need and want to serve the NHS. The staff members deserve for their efforts to be recognised and to be celebrated because what they do day in and day out is not easy at all.  I received support from staff from all walks of life, they collaborated brilliantly with their colleagues and that's what makes a good team work.

I am so thankful, grateful and will always remember the great care I received and thank you once again to all of the staff who were there for me in ward 4.

Dear SonKa

Thank you for taking the time to leave us your feedback on Care Opinion.

I was sorry to hear you had to be admitted to the Glasgow Royal Infirmary after experiencing issues with your health. This must have been a very worrying time for you and your family.

It was truly heartening to hear that despite the challenges you faced, the staff remained unwaveringly compassionate, empathetic, and professional. Their dedication to providing not just medical treatment, but also warmth and support, speaks volumes about their commitment to patient well-being within the ward.

I will be happy to pass on your thanks to the team who I'm sure will be touched to hear you had such a positive experience while under their care.

I hope your feeling a lot better and recovering well back at home.

Kind regards

Kevin
