"Took a lot longer than anticipated"

About: Belfast City Hospital / Endoscopy Unit

(as the patient),

Turned up ten minutes before my appointment. Checked in at reception, shortly after, collected by a nurse, completed paperwork and changed into a gown.

Waited for an hour and a half (the fire alarm went off which caused some confusion). Was given an enama, taken in for the investigation, eventually left about 35 minutes later.

All the staff were very professional and helpful, just took a lot longer than anticipated.

Thank you so much for taking the time to provide feedback. The Endoscopy team endeavour to provide a positive experience every day for our patients. Unfortunately during a Fire Alarm all procedures are put on hold, until cleared to proceed (in case we need to evacuate). This can lead to an extended wait. I'm delighted we were able to complete your procedure, and you found the staff helpful & professional. I take this opportunity to apologise for the wait, but in this instance it was beyond our control. I will pass on your feedback to our team.

Kind Regards

Brenda Carville

Endoscopy Unit Manager
