I recently had a genetics appointments in reference to Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome.
The geneticist agreed with rheumatology and confirmed my diagnosis. I have to be really honest, to date this is most positive experience I've had within the NHS.
It's the first time a specialist actually sat down and had a genuine conversation. The geneticist was kind, caring and compassionate and genuinely seemed to care, again rare these days.
So much so, that I sent them a thankyou letter. Unfortunately, as many chronically ill patients find out, this type of specialist is like a needle in a haystack.
I've nothing but positives to say about the genetics department at Belfast City hospital. If only all services were like this.
"Amazing service"
