I am the parent to a young teenage person. We recently attended A&E Dundonald about 9pm with a suspected broken rib following a sporting injury.
The waiting area was very busy with approximately 80 people. The reception was efficient and easy, we were triaged within 30-49 minutes.
The nurse Rebecca spoke directly to the young person listened intently to their situation and explained everything to them and effectively.
We were then seen by Dr Adam, who was able to make a real connection with the young person and undertook a thorough assessment including scan for internal injuries. He reassured the young person of treatment and prognosis and advised no sports but in a really kind manner.
We were discharged by 11:15 and an all round effective service. While we were there it was evident that triage was working efficiently for the more serious cases and also that discharge was working effectively for less minor injuries.
The overall experience was very positive and it was evident that all staff were working to their full capacity making use of every available space to see patients.
Our thanks to the team at A&E Dundonald for excellent, safe, effective and personable practice.
"The overall experience was very positive"
