"Her guidance helped me feel I was doing it properly."

About: Adult Health & Support Services / Physiotherapy

(as a service user),

I received physio from Lorraine because I fractured my hip bone. She came to help me strengthen it by giving me specific exercises to do, how often I should do them, and how. She checked to see how I felt whilst doing these exercises too.

She visited me over a while and said that she was happy that I was working hard with the exercises, and that if I was happy to continue doing them, she was confident that she didn't need to visit me anymore.

She was excellent at supporting me with my desire to get back to running, however, she made it clear that I needed to listen to her advice, taking it step by step in order to do so. The way she said this was kind, and she made me feel like it was possible for me to go back to my fitness level. She was so kind and caring about it. She was always on time and always pleasant to me; it almost felt like a friend coming, she was so pleasant and kind.

She was always clear and direct, and I worked to her recommendations and still do the exercises now.

She was clearly very knowledgeable and good at communicating with me and reassuring me that I was doing the exercises correctly. Her guidance helped me feel I was doing it properly.

She understood my feelings and desire to get back to my fitness levels before the injury, and her training and confidence in me have given me more incentive.

Dear doncs54

Thank you for taking the time to share your positive feedback in relation to Lorraine's physio support following your hip fracture. She will be delighted with your comments regarding her knowledge, communication and caring approach. These will be shared with Lorraine and the wider team.

It looks as though you both worked together really well and agreed an approach that was approriate for you. A hip fracture is a significant injury and it is clear that you worked hard with your rehabilitation exercises to focus on returning to previous fitness levels.

This must have been a challenging and difficult time for you and it is good to see the collaboration between yourself and Lorraine.

I hope that your recovery continues to be positive and I wish you all the very best

Kind regards

Lise
