"Disappointed to say the least"

About: Antrim Area Hospital / Accidents & Emergency

(as a relative),

Sitting with my husband in ED Antrim unwell and totally exhausted waiting since 4pm, it is now almost 5am!

I have spoken to nurses twice about the waiting time - one told me there's nothing they can do about it, don't come on a Mon or Tue, they're the worst days, hold off till Wed.

I approached another 2 nurses who ignored me till I informed them there was a patient smoking whilst on oxygen - needless to say this gained their attention. Once the nurse had dealt with that I asked for an update about my husband being seen by a doctor, I was informed that they're taking the 90-year-olds to get them off the books! Not great responses when you've been waiting for 13 hours. Disappointed to say the least.

We have also been told there are only 2 doctors working - Why? We don't complain, but this experience has been poor.

If people are facing these waiting times there should at least be comfortable seating where people can rest - hard chairs are practical but no good for people who are unwell.

Dear Sadie Su

I apologies for the long wait you have experience. Its difficult for me to investigate via this forum, please feel to contact me on the details below.

I will say in general terms that the ED department has been under significant pressure for a while now and patients are experience greater than normal waits to be seen.

I would like to investigate the staff who ignore you and your husband and who failed to provide you with information
