"Disappointing level of GP knowledge"

About: Medwyn Surgery

Medwyn Surgery are generally a very good practice and I have been with them for years. However, I was disappointed that the GP there did not have any knowledge of NICE guidelines around HRT. I had to really fight to be allowed access to it (I’m nearly 47) and did not go away feeling reassured. The HRT was fantastic and I wanted to reduce my SSRI dosage. Again the GP did not have any knowledge of the NICE guidelines around SSRI tapering. I wasn’t given any support and had a traumatic experience of withdrawal after following GP instructions on reducing the dose. I’m now back on the original dose.

I know these are sector-wide issues but I was hoping for a higher standard from Medwyn GPs.
