The Lotus team had held an evening for antenatal mummies and their families to come and meet them all. This was very helpful in that we felt more at ease with having met the midwives who were going to be with us when birthing our baby.
The move of maternity services from Causeway to Antrim was worrying but it really helped knowing that the Lotus team would be with me.
My lotus midwife was an amazing support all through pregnancy, labour and after my daughter's arrival. Longer appointments helped to provide excellent person centred care. She helped me be more confident & supported me in every single thing. I felt in control from start to finish. She helped me heal from past trauma and be stronger for the future too. This is what the Lotus team are all about. Caitlin personally made me feel cared about, respected, important & healed from past trauma. She was always on my side & fought for me & my baby to get the best care possible.
She was with me for most of my labour and when her shift had to finish another lotus midwife took care of us. Kirsty was brilliant. Caitlin made sure she knew my birth preferences. It was a lovely and relaxed atmosphere with little fairy lights and essential oils that got the oxytocin flowing! When some complications meant a caesarean section was needed, Kirsty was amazing and helped me stay calm.
Caitlin was back with me when her next shift started and was amazing support with our new baby and looking after me postnatal.
We have been lucky to have the lotus girls looking after us. We wish them well and all their mummies will be lucky to have them by their side. I'll never forget Caitlin and want to thank her for helping us have the best experience bringing our wee baby coming into the world.
