Waiting for hearing test

"Waiting for hearing test"

About: Lauriston Building

(as a service user),

I was told that my  re assessment for my hearing test was due in May 2024 having been on the waiting list got over 4 years .

I phoned the audiology dept and was told it could  be a further couple of months as the waiting list is getting longer by the minute .

They are aware that my hearing has gone down since my last test and therefore you would think that I would be seen as a priority .

I would be grateful if someone from NHS Lothian to why this is happening and when I might get a hearing test .

Thank you for taking the time to post to Care Opinion. Your feedback is appreciated and your concerns regarding your waiting times are important. I have today spoken with Feraz Ahmed, Head of Service, Adult Audiology and he has apologised for any inconvenience this may have caused you. He notes Audiology are currently experiencing a high demand in service, which has led to longer waiting times He asks you please be assured that the team are working tirelessly at full capacity to accommodate everyone as efficiently as possible. He further confirms the importance of timely care, and is actively exploring ways to optimise and enhance Audiology service delivery to reduce waiting times.

Your patience and understanding are greatly appreciated during this busy period. If you have any further questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact the Audiology service and they will be able to answer any questions pertinent to you. Alternatively, if you would like to raise a concern via the Patient Experience Team, can I ask you do so via email, LOTH.Feedback@nhs.scot this will allow us to investigate your pathway formally.
