"We felt supported by everyone"

About: Inverurie Hospital / Midwifery

(as a service user),

My first baby was born at ICMU recently. I was keen to have my baby in Inverurie and discussed my birth plan with my named midwife, Kelsey, who was really supportive.

When arriving at the unit it happened to be Kelsey who was on shift (and student, Rebecca, who I had also seen previously).

My labour was quick, but I felt so safe and cared for by them - it was everything I wanted, and more. The only slight downside was that I didn't have the opportunity to try out the newly re-opened birthing pool as my labour progressed too quickly (a nice problem to have)!

It was really special to have Kelsey and Rebecca deliver our baby given they had been with me antenatally. They even stayed beyond the end of their shift as they knew baby's arrival was imminent. They really are superstars.

We then stayed the night and were well looked after - they struck the right balance between giving us alone time as a family, but also checking in on us and making sure we had everything we needed. The attentiveness of each midwife who came out to visit us at home in the postnatal period was also much appreciated. We felt supported by everyone which was exactly what we needed.

I loved my birthing experience and wouldn't hesitate to recommend ICMU to anyone considering giving birth there.

Hello Charlloo

Congratulations on the birth of your baby.

Thank you for taking the time to send feedback on your care experience in Inverurie Community Maternity Unit.

How special was it for you to have continuity of named midwife for your birth. This is one of the lovely things about coming to Inverurie, continuity can extend to the birth which is super rewarding for midwife as well as mum.

Your feedback will be shared with the team, it is always much appreciated.

Best Wishes to you and your family

Kind regards

Jude
