"Mentalization Based Treatment - introduction group"

About: Community Forensic Services / Nottinghamshire MBT Service

(as a staff member posting for a patient/service user),

The MBTi group was helpful having other people there that seemed to understand or experience similar thought patterns/processes to me. It helped me feel less alone and misunderstood. The group allowed me to be honest and open without the judgement that I would normally feel. It also allowed me to trust people to be respectful.

Initially not all group members were as invested as me but as the group went on and absences meant people left, this helped. I think more people would benefit and need MBT to help them with their problems. Overall, the group facilitators were extremely helpful, they lead by example and asked the difficult questions when required.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience of the MBTi group. It is great to hear how helpful you found the group by being open and honest without feeling judgement. Often in groups it is a place where people can share similar thoughts/processes which in turn as you say can make you feel less alone and misunderstood.

Groups can also be very daunting for people and so we understand that investment can take time to trust the process or decide it is not for them. Its good to hear of your positive experience of the group facilitators and will ensure this is fed back to them.

Wishing you all the best for your next step in therapy.

Best wishes,

Amy

Dear MBTiM24,

Thank you for this feedback about the MBTi group you've recently completed. It is so lovely to hear how invested you are in MBT and in your next step for therapy.

It seems the MBTi group has been really helpful in giving you the insight into what group therapy is like and this then leading to you having a sense of feeling understood and working with people/in a space which is respectful and trusting.

It's great to hear you have a positive experience of the facilitators and their role modelling mentalizing, I'll make sure this feedback is shared with them and the team.

Very best wishes for your next step in therapy, Louisa
