"Calm, efficient and all staff patient and kind"

About: Trauma & orthopaedics / Orthopaedic National Treatment Centre

(as the patient),

Attended for elective hip replacement.

Unit is calm, very efficient and all staff patient and kind. Plenty of opportunities to discuss problems with the surgeon, anaesthetist and nursing staff.

Seen by physios and OT’s before discharge and given clear instructions from nurse regarding drugs and care at home.

Rooms and corridors clean, spacious and airy. This is a new unit.

Only problem was ensuite wet room shower didn’t drain properly and leaked into the bedroom.

Dear Anne E-W,

My name is Aileen Mackin and I am the Charge Nurse within the National Treatment Centre Ward.

Thank you very much for taking the time to post your feedback.

The admission area is an excellent part of the ward as it does allow patients to prepare and ask questions privately. It has been noted on several occasions that it makes patients feel more relaxed prior to surgery.

I am glad to hear that you felt that your post operative instructions were clear from staff.

The domestics and ward staff work hard within the unit to ensure that the level of cleanliness is achieved and again will be delighted to hear this from your kind comments.

I am sorry to hear the wet room floor did not drain away when you were showering. We will monitor this issue and report to the estates department.

Wishing you well with your ongoing recovery.

Best Wishes,

Aileen
