"Arthritis in hand"

About: Trauma & orthopaedics / Orthopaedic Outpatient Department

(as a service user),

Recently went to Perth Royal Infirmary and can not praise them enough.

I arrived early and was seen to early, the doctor I saw explained what was wrong in great detail and that injection into the affected area was the best way of dealing with it to reduce the inflammation.

I would normally have to make another appointment to have this done, but as I had traveled from Dundee he agreed to do it there and then and after a phone call he had it set up.

The nurse that worked alongside him was also extremely helpful and when I told her I wasn’t too good with needles she reassured me and spoke to me the whole time to keep my mind off it but to be honest I was fretting over nothing and even managed to watch the X-ray to see what was happening.

After the procedure they agreed to keep my file open for a year to allow me to return at some point to get the other hand done without the need for a referral from my doctor.

At a time when the NHS Is getting a lot of bad press I couldn’t have been happier with the service I received.
