My dad has recently undergone surgery under the care of Urology, Ward 209, ARI.
The care provided from admission to DoSA, into theatre and recovery, and then into Ward 209 through to discharge was exceptional. Having a recent diagnosis of prostate cancer, the wait for surgery was less than 8 weeks which is fantastic. The NHS are too quick to be judged on various waiting times but from initial appointment to surgery was around 4.5 months and this cannot be faulted.
The welcoming and friendly staff on the day of the operation explained everything in detail and went above and beyond to ensure my dad knew what was happening and he felt at ease throughout.
A special mention to a few who were so kind and lovely; the friendly receptionist at DoSA (apologies we didn't get the name), Janice, Kelly and Charlene who he seen before being taken to theatre. All nursing, medical and support staff on Ward 209 could not be faulted. (Apologies, the only names we picked up were nurses Pam and Brian and HCSW Karen). And lastly to his consultant, Mr Douglas, whose ongoing care, advice and treatment has been invaluable.
Thank you all for being such incredible individuals with a passion for your job. Your smiles, kindness, humour and care helps individuals' daunting experiences feel much more relaxed and you all deserve recognition for your hard work and commitment. Thank you 👏
