"Exceptional staff and care"

About: Royal Aberdeen Children's Hospital / Accident & Emergency (Emergency Care) Royal Aberdeen Children's Hospital / High Dependancy Unit Royal Aberdeen Children's Hospital / Medical Paediatrics (Children's Medicine) Scottish Ambulance Service / Emergency Ambulance

(as a parent/guardian),

My 3-year -old was taken to RACH A&E by ambulance after suffering with a prolonged seizure. The ambulance crew from Ellon and the doctor that attended were absolutely fantastic and kept me informed and supported me.

The staff in A&E were absolutely second to none and treated my daughter quickly to stabilise her and kept me informed of everything they were doing and why they were doing.

She also spent some time in HDU and on the medical ward. The nurses and student nurses on the ward were absolutely wonderful and so patient with my daughter who was struggling with all investigations.

Special recognition to Chloe, the student nurse on medical ward, who made a special impact on my daughter and always made a little game out of getting things done which really helped her relax.

I can’t thank all the staff involved enough for all the help and support for my daughter and also ourselves during a tough time.

Dear Anxious ftm

Thank you for sharing your story. It is always very frightening when children have seizures so I am glad that you are happy with all the treatment you received.

If you would like me to pass on your thanks to the Ellon ambulance crew may I ask that you contact our Patient Experience Team at sas.feedback@nhs.scot with your name, Care Opinion name, your daughter's name and the address and date we attended.

I do hope she is recovering well.

Kindest regards

David

Dear Anxious ftm

Thank you for taking the time to leave feedback following your daughters admission to RACH after having a prolonged seizure.

This must have been a very anxious time for you all and I am pleased that the staff were able to work with your daughter to help her be more relaxed around getting investigations and things done. I hope she has fully recovered and back to her normal self.

Staff work hard to make children's and families experience in hospital the best it can be and I am sure they will be delighted to hear that they made a difference in yours and your daughters stay.

I will pass on your kind words to all areas.

Thank you again
