"The excellent care my quadriplegic sister received"

About: Western General Hospital / Gastroenterology Western General Hospital / General Surgery

(as a relative),

My sister has very complex health issues on top of a high level spinal injury, so feels extremely vulnerable in hospital away from her care team.

From the moment we met Miss Collie for the initial consultation we felt at ease. She had taken the time to read the 3 page email I had sent detailing the 36 year history of my sisters survival and how her deteriorating bowel function was devastating her quality of life.

Miss Collie agreed immediately that she was suitable for a colostomy and the surgery was performed recently.

All the staff cared so carefully for her and made her feel extremely safe. The anaesthetist knew her from his previous role in her home ventilation team so put her at ease immediately.

As a family we can’t thank you enough for making this nerve wracking experience so easy.

Dear indiapq57

Thank you for taking the time to share your story with us regarding your sister’s experience at the Western General Hospital.

I am so pleased to hear that she was so well cared for by staff and that they helped her to feel safe and at ease.

I have highlighted your feedback to the management team who will be able to share with those involved.

Thank you again and best wishes

Louise
