"Waiting for a telephone consultation"

About: Crosshouse Hospital / Ear, Nose & Throat

I was supposed to have a telephone consultation with the consultant at the hospital, but I never received it. 

I was informed of this telephone appointment 3 - 4 weeks prior, so had been waiting patiently. 

The letter stated an exact time for the call but did say it could happen on either side of that time. I had my phone with me the whole time but no call came. It got to early evening so I called the hospital and asked whether the call would still happen and they confirmed it would. I was with my phone the whole time but still no call came. 

I called the hospital the morning after and was informed that the consultant did try to call me. I checked my number with them and it was correct and checked my call log but no call was there. They have now told me that I will have to go back to my GP. 

This has happened to me and my wife before and I'm sure it is not unusual.
