"I felt at ease with him"

I had been putting off going to GP for better pain relief as even the small walk from car to surgery was very painful so I was very rarely out the door. I was buying pain relief off the Internet, even sitting gave me pain. Struggled a lot sitting trying to make something to eat so some day's didn't have anything or days I had sandwiches or cereal. My mood was really low and crying a lot, mentally not coping with losing my mobility. Had bought a garden chair which I used in shower.

Finally made appointment for doctor's. GP I had seen was very understanding she gave me a better medication and spoke about occupational therapist, which I didn't know anything about. I received an appointment to go to OT at surgery which is where I met Ross whom was also very understanding and I felt at ease with him. I just spoke exactly how I was feeling. Ross asked me a lot of different questions and arranged for a home visit. I was asked lots more questions and showed him about the house how I try manage trying to keep fighting through the pain. Ross had left me with an activity sheet which I had to fill in hour by hour, and also ordered a better seat for in shower.

Ross came back 2 weeks later looked at activity sheet and discussed each question and gave me advice on how to deal with things in a different way. I had told Ross I had a horrific pain for almost a week, and it happens regularly. I tried to follow activity sheet based on Ross advice. By the time Ross had came back I was feeling good bit better mentally and my pain had settled down a  good bit which Ross was pleased about. He had given me a different approach on my activity sheet which I tried to follow. Ross ordered a better chair for kitchen which was a lot better on what I was using, he came back after chair had been delivered and increased the height to a better level. We discussed if I wanted more activity sheet but I had promised I would try keep using Ross advice. We also discussed each day on a points basis which had improved a lot better to my 1st visit at surgery.

I still have pain which I don't think will ever go away but I'm coping with it a good lot better mentally and I'm still trying to keep Ross advice and taking a different approach much better. So I would definitely say my referral from GP has done me good, and know I can contact OT if I need to.
