"Saved My Life"

About: CGL Birmingham / South Hub

(as the patient),

I went from a feeling like a rat to a lion, honestly CGL has helped me gain my life back.

I was so far gone when I discovered CGL, using crack cocaine and heroin multiple times a day turning me into a horrible person. I now look back on that lifestyle and realise I wouldn’t have been able to do it without the help of Hugo from CGL south hub.

Hugo has been there for me through the ups and downs and though it’s been a windy road having relapsed halfway through the program, I stand tall today knowing I came out the other side a better person.

I now can live my life and be the free person I’m meant to be, no longer tied down by my negative energy but uplifted by the strength I’ve grown by getting through this.

I feel like nothing can hold me back.

Dear Coopa

Thank you for reaching out to us via Care Opinion.

My name is Lydia and I am part of the team that listens and responds to people’s feedback.

I am so glad that you have had a positive experience of accessing our support, and it sounds like Hugo has played a major part in helping you along the way to achieving your goals. I will make sure that your kind words are shared with him and his manager. I’m sure Hugo will feel incredibly grateful for your feedback, and will feel honoured to have been there to support you.

Breaking out of the world of addiction is never impossible but is a huge challenge, and I have no doubt that you have had to work incredibly hard to turn around your life in the way you have. I can imagine the period of relapse you mentioned, must have been a really difficult time to go through, and well done for having the determination to pull yourself back onto the path of recovery. I’m so glad you found the strength to do this.

We understand that the physical and psychological pressures of addiction can influence people’s decision making and result in choices being made that are not in line with the values and beliefs they would normally live by. I’m really glad that your able to reflect on how you were as a person back then, recognise how different you are today, and can stand tall and feel proud of the person you are now.

Thank you again for sharing your experiences with us. I hope you continue to enjoy your newfound freedom, and that you grab every opportunity that may come your way with both hands. Stay positive and keep building on your strength!

Best wishes,

Lydia
