"Paediatric services in FVRH"

About: Forth Valley Royal Hospital / Accident & emergency Forth Valley Royal Hospital / Paediatrics

(as a service user),

Our toddler was admitted with sudden shortness of breath and wheeze via A&E. After being seen SO quickly in A&E, we were in the paediatric ward within an hour. In this time we had been started on treatment after the A&E Dr discussed the case with the in call Reg. We were seen instantly by the registrar on call. She did a joint review as nursing staff checked obs and admission paperwork.

The staff have been absolutely outstanding. So kind, caring, compassionate, and really listening to our story. Taking on board concerns, reassuring us and making clear and sensible plans.

The registrar Dr Sarah reviewed our daughter 4 times in the space of 3 hours to ensure we were managing her condition and providing the right treatment. Including returning with the night Reg after her shift was technically over to do a joint review and discuss how our daughter's condition compared to earlier, allowing a clear and safe plan to be made moving forward. She was warm, welcoming, friendly, thorough and so knowledgeable, clearly making sensible and safe plans. Her bedside manner is outstanding and the care she provides is the same. We are so grateful to have been looked after by her - thank you Sarah.

We have been welcomed and provided with refreshments, a range of food, a bottle for our toddler, a bed made up for us and we have been checked on many times to make sure there is nothing we need to make us more comfortable. We have even been given a fan in case the room is too hot overnight.

The care and compassion of staff we have met so far is incredible and I will be telling everyone who will listen about the first class experience we have had at FVRH. Thank you to everyone - you have made a very scary experience so much easier to navigate and we are so grateful for your unbelievable care.
