"The care I received was excellent"

About: Forth Valley Royal Hospital / Urgent Care Centre

(as the patient),

I was sent up to urgent care by my GP as he wanted me to have a CT scan. I had to take my young granddaughter with me who i was looking after at this time.

On arrival I was met with a bright cheery smile from the receptionist who asked me to sit in waiting area. I was called to be seen after waiting for 5 minutes and given a recliner chair to sit on. The nurse Audrey went and brought crayons and paper for my granddaughter to keep her occupied, which it did, my granddaughter was delighted. CSW Maria came and took my bloods and my observations all the time speaking to my granddaughter and including her, also asking her if she wanted anything. When I went for my scan Maria very kindly looked after my granddaughter till her grandad came to collect her. She also gave her a cone that belonged to her.

I was in Urgent Care for 6 hours and the care i received was excellent. ANP Julie could see how much pain I was in and  wanted me to stay in overnight which I agreed to. My CT was fine. I was sent up to SAU at this time.

All the staff in Urgent Care were amazing, nothing was a problem to any of them. There were 2 student nurses, Stuart and Lee (I think ) and another CSW Kimberley who all made me feel at ease and kept checking on me throughout my stay. If I asked for anything i didn't have to wait long for it and I wasn't made to feel that I was being a problem.

As a nurse myself it's hard being on the receiving end of treatment but it was all made better with the excellent team in Urgent Care.
