I was referred to see the O/T by my GP.
I was in severe constant pain, suffering from depression, anxiety attacks and panic attacks. My mobility is not the best at times, I suffer from right sided weakness, at times sharp electric shock type pains, lower and upper back, hip knee pain, constant pain in my right hand / arm/ shoulder of which is bad when I attempt to cut food on my plate, shower or wash dry my hair. I am unable to do things for myself at times, some things less than others ie washing, dressing, drying hair, preparing food, opening cans, bottles, packets at times.
My O/T Amy was a god send she taught me how to pace myself and not to judge myself too harshly when I was having a bad day. Amy also spoke to me about doing little things rather than too much on a good day of which I would suffer later. Amy gave me lots of websites to surf through of which had helpful information, as well as tools in the format of graphs n paper work to complete of which I found helpful as you could look back at them and find possible triggers of which could create a lot of pain or a bad day that could end up on bed for the whole day. Amy also recommended a toilet frame of which has assisted me from standing to sitting and the reverse, a shower seat of which has made a massive difference to me and specific cutlery to help me cut, can n jar openers, n just to help calm n find myself at times. Amy also spoke me through breathing exercises when having panic attacks or an anxiety attack and to remember I can breathe although it feels like I cannot.
I am very grateful for Amy and her knowledge, some of it you know but forget when you are in a terrible place.
Thanks for being there Amy
