"They reduced the stress for all the patients in their care"

About: Mater Hospital / Elective Overnight stay centre (EOSC)

(as a service user),

I went to the mater hospital to undergo a TURBT procedure in the elective overnight stay centre, mid April 2024.

From the moment I arrived in the morning until I left late afternoon, I received the highest quality care possible. I work in the education sector and work daily in a team environment. I have never witnessed a team of staff work together so efficiently, effectively and professionally.

I was welcomed and reassured by all the staff, whether administrative, cleaning or medical. Special mention to the work of the 4 nursing staff in my ward Sara, Geraldine, Ashleigh and Lisa. With great care and a lot of humour they attended to the needs of everyone in their care.

They reduced the stress for all the patients in their care. I would just like to thank them and all the staff ( wonderful doctors by the way) for making my stay in the unit so comfortable and reassuring.

The trust should be very proud of the team in the unit, a credit to the city.

Many thanks again

Hi Freddieb374,

My name is Sharon Adamson and I'm the Lead Nurse for the Elective Overnight Stay Centre in the Mater.

Thank you so much for taking the time to comment on your stay and to leave such positive feedback for the team and the quality of care that you received.

I know that coming into hospital can be a very stressful experience so its good to hear that the staff were able to reduce this and provide you with reassurance, I hope that you are continuing to recover well at home.

I will share your comments with Sara, Geraldine, Ashleigh, Lisa and all of the wider team it's so encouraging for us all to hear as a newly opened unit.

Thanks again,

Sharon
