"Corby Midwives Team - So many things wrong"

About: Kettering General Hospital

My wife and I have lost our patience with KGH’s Corby Midwife’s Team. Either through deliberate malice or extreme disorganisation, this team did not accommodate my wife’s request to give birth at Peterborough City Hospital. After repeated attempts to convince my wife to reconsider her choice to change birth locations from KGH, and after Peterborough City hospital helped us to make the change, the Corby Team continuously made snide comments at each of our appointments about Peterborough City hospital. In December, this Corby Midwife team lost my wife’s fit-to-fly letter blaming the postman. I needed to drive back to the clinic myself to retrieve the letter which appeared to have never been sent out. After my son’s birth, a Corby team midwife conducted a day 2 visit at our house. She took all of our Peterborough City Hospital discharge paperwork home with her “to put in her computer” including important dosage information which my wife needed to ensure she was taking the proper medication following a Cesarian section. The midwife returned a couple days later without the hospital discharge paperwork citing her failure to wake up on time and forgetting our paperwork “at home”. This is one of the three/four midwives from Corby’s Midwife team to go out of her way in conversation to tell us that “Kettering is better” than Peterborough. She also conducted my son’s heal prick test two weeks ago. We still have not received these results in the post leading us to wonder if this test is also “at home” with the midwife along with all of our discharge paperwork. We’ve tried to retrieve this paperwork through conversations during our day 10 midwife visit and through a phone call to the Corby Team’s lead midwife on 9 April who was unhelpful and seemed generally uninterested in any conversation with me. She assured me that she would follow up with her team to ensure our important discharge paperwork would be posted to us. We have yet to receive the fit-to-fly letter, the heel prick test results, or our hospital discharge paperwork in the post from Corby’s midwife team. I don’t have much confidence that any of these items were ever posted. I am thrilled with my wife’s decision to give birth at Peterborough City Hospital given these experiences and based upon recent stories I’ve been told about KGH. The amount of negative comments made about Peterborough City Hospital by KGH’s Corby midwives team is now laughable, especially given our experiences with both team’s. For the record, Peterborough’s midwives haven’t made a single unbecoming comment toward KGH. My wife and I are considering our future options because we will do just about everything in our power to avoid interactions with this Corby Team or KGH.
