"My overall experience is still very positive"

About: Cancer Services / Day Patient Area - Chemotherapy Cancer Services / Haematology/Oncology Day Patient Unit Cancer Services / Radiotherapy Ninewells Hospital / Xrays and scans Radiology (X-rays and Scans) / MRI Scans

(as the patient),

I was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2017.

The care that I have received from the PRI and Ninewells oncology teams has been exemplary.

The only complaint that I have is regarding administration. On one occasion my wife and I drove to Ninewells from Comrie for my bone scan to be told on arrival that the scanners were down. I did not receive notification of the cancellation.

There have been other administrative mistakes, but my overall experience is still very positive.

Dear Pictorny44,

Thanks for posting this helpful response noting the excellent care you received.

I am sorry that your Bone scan within Nuclear Medicine did not go ahead due to scanner failure. The normal process is to inform patients straight away of any cancellations, but as with any equipment it can break at anytime.

Without knowing your full details it is difficult to explain what happened in this particular instance. If you would like me to investigate further I am more than happy to do so.

Kind Regards

Mike
