I recently attended A&E at UHH with stomach pains - quickly triaged, given pain relief, CT scan which showed gallstones!
Taken to ward 4, seen by surgical team, given IV abx & fluid and await a plan. Pain subsided, discharged in 4 days with oral abx. Pain returned a few days later. Attended A&E, sent to ward 4 again then moved to ward 1, discharged again with promise of having operation in 2 months.
Received a letter for an operation, after operation returned to ward 5. Seemed like a long time, but undoubtedly in awe of all the care and attention my husband received through all departments.
The hospital stretched to capacity on all occasions but he was seen by medical and nursing staff and treated with respect and dignity, and some banter too which put him at ease as he is never unwell and never been in hospital, a sincere thank you to all the staff in A&E, ward 1,4,5. Including all the domestic staff who ensured he was fed and watered.. ❤️❤️
"A sincere thank you to all the staff"
