"Understanding where it all started is a hard job for anyone"

About: Inclusion Thurrock (Talking Therapies)

(as a service user),

I started to feel really down and stop enjoying doing things.

I went to the gp done a test and started medication, two/three months later I was really down and started looking services or treatment to get back on track.

After finding inclusion online I took the plunge and filled out the questionnaire online and received a email saying someone will contact soon with a time and date to have a conversation, after having a polite and understanding conversation I was on a list for depression.

The first five/six sessions were boring and hard, but someone working on nothing trying to get to your core beliefs to try and understand where it all started for you is a hard job for anyone.

After this I started enjoying the therapy and a hour didn’t seem long enough for me.

Here are some of my symptoms I dealt and struggle with:

The whole world is against you or on your shoulders.

One word answers and trying to stay away from conversations.

Not going out and trying to stay safe in four walls.

Pushing friends and family away, not socialising.

Feel everyone is looking or talking about you.

Very insecure, over think and always dwell on the negative as the only answers.

After taking small hurdles and even going backwards sometimes, it’s takes time and self belief you can make small changes that make big changes over time.

I hope this helps

Hi Happy Place,

Thank you for taking the time to share you feedback of your experience with Inclusion Thurrock Talking Therapies.

It is encouraging to hear that you were able to take the steps necessary to find support when you noticed that you were struggling. It is always daunting taking that first step so, I am glad to hear that we were able to support you with your depression.

The journey to recovery can be hard especially working on where it all started. However, the small steps are what matter. Taking the time and allowing room for error is what therapy is about.

Your experience and encouraging words, for others that may need it, is so valuable, and I am happy to hear that you have been able to reflect on what worked well for you, which has led to change.

Thank you so much for your honesty and sharing your wonderful progress.

I hope that your feedback encourages others to share their experience with us at Inclusion Thurrock Talking Therapies.

Wishing you all the best in the future,

Taffy
