"The care I received from everyone could not be faulted"

About: Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital (Wonford) / Cardiology South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust / Emergency ambulance

(as the patient),

I recently suffered a heart attack. We were on our way to meet with our son when I felt what can only be described as mild indigestion. My husband asked if I wanted to return home, but I said no and we eventually arrived at a picnic area, where husband my husband made the decision to call 999.

They needed the post code, so my husband went to a cafe there to obtain the postcode, and then of course a lot of people came to offer assistance.

The ambulance arrived quite quickly - by my recollection, but not by my husband's, who by now was extremely stressed, naturally.

After checking me over in the ambulance I was told I was having a heart attack . My response was - I don't do things like that, I’m the fit one in our family!

I went to RD&E with blue lights flashing, and on arrival the speed with which I was dealt with in the cath lab, was incredible! Before I knew it I was on the ward having had 2 stents fitted!

I stayed in hospital for five days, and the care I received from everyone could not be faulted. I think it was Taw ward - from consultants to cleaners, nurses to food providers, they were all amazing. A massive thank you to one and all, and not to forget the ambulance service!
