I’m a massive supporter of the frontline NHS staff and this is the first time I’ve felt compelled to leave feedback.
My dad was on ward A11 in Forth Valley hospital for 3 weeks recovering from a condition and waiting to be sent to a care home. He also has Alzheimer’s, dementia and greatly reduced mobility with a massive fear of change to routine and environment.
Apart from a core of great staff, the service he received I found to be nothing short of disgraceful.
This ranged from :
Being left in his chair with no interaction for hours
One morning it was almost midday before someone assisted with him getting out of bed - he is incapable by himself.
Waiting 30 mins on a toilet seat for assistance
Being moved into a 4 bay ward and being the 5th bed. With no privacy screen, no tv and no accessible power - his iPad was jammed into the patients bed next to him
When I queried the above I got a negative response back from most of the staff and this resorted to my mum and I getting him ready for his bed - which he hates.
All of the above left us going up to visit my dad and us being confronted by suicidal thoughts and just abject despair.
