"Reassuring and supportive"

About: Whitehills Health & Community Care Centre / Minor Injuries

(as the patient),

I was hit by a big dog at speed when I was out walking my dogs, which caused a knee injury.

I attended Minor Injuries Unit where the staff thoroughly examined my leg for any breaks.

They were very reassuring and supportive with aftercare exercises.

Dear Doge64

Thank you so much for taking the time to post your story on care opinion. I’m sorry to hear you injured your leg and needed to attend the Minor Injuries unit in Whitehills, Forfar.

The nursing staff will be so pleased to hear that you found them to be reassuring and supportive. Most of the nursing staff in the Minor injury service are very experienced nurses and are able to assess, and manage many different types of minor injuries. Once the patient has called NHS 24, to ensure that their injury is suitable for our service, we book an appointment for them to be seen, this avoids sitting in waiting areas for a long time.

I hope you are recovering well at home and managing the aftercare exercises given to you. I’m sure your dogs will be looking after you and looking forward to getting out with you again for a nice walk - hopefully this time without injury!

Thank you again for sending in your comments, we really appreciate this. I will share your lovely story with the nursing staff in Whitehills Minor injury unit.

Take care

Anne
