"Great care"

About: Western Isles Hospital / Accident & Emergency

(as a service user),

Had been having severe bilateral shoulder pain.  My GP in Ireland rang me when I was travelling from Uig in Skye to Tarbert and said as he was concerned about Giant Cell Arteritis with a risk of sight loss, he wanted me to go to A&E immediately on arrival in Harris & Lewis.

Was looked after by A&E nurse Adam and Locum GP Graham. Both were very welcoming and attentive.  Had comprehensive workup with clear treatment plan.  Graham went over and above with follow up phone call with blood results.  He also a few days later very kindly provided me with a letter for the GP to allow meaningful handover of care to a different UK health system.  Two days after my visit I was able to sleep again and regained shoulder function allowing me to enjoy my holidays with my wife and kids.  Good job all round from both Adam and Graham.

Thank you so much for taking the time to feedback such valuable and positive comments. Our team continually strive to ensure our patients have a good experience and quality care. Great to hear you felt well cared for not only during your time in A&E, but also follow up care. I have passed on your feedback and thanks to Graham and Adam'
