"Inverurie Community Maternity Unit"

My wife and I welcomed our first child overnight at the end of March 2024 at ICMU. 

From the outset my wife and I liked the sound of the unit and the relaxing nature of it. A water birth was part of our birth plan and with the newly working baths at ICMU this was another big draw. 

Sara and Pamela were on duty the night of the birth and my wife and I could not speak highly enough of them. From the first contact on the phone, they were reassuring and calming putting my wife at ease to get pretty far along at home. When we arrived we were the only ones in and were treated so well, meeting our every needs and the wishes detailed in the birth plan. The bath was run and the mood was set all by the staff and nothing was missed. The birth was all positive and this is down to of course my wife but a huge part of it was down to Sara and the team.

My wife and I stayed in the recovery room for a couple of days to rest up and get some assistance with feeding. The teams that followed on from Sara and Pamela were equally as lovely and supportive.

We look back on the birth of our first child so positively largely down to the care by ICMU! Well done and thank you everyone!
