"Laparoscopic surgery"

About: New Victoria Hospital / Theatres, Recovery and Anaesthetics New Victoria Hospital / Urogynaecology

(as the patient),

I was in the new Victoria hospital Glasgow for a diagnostic laparoscopy, I have had a few bad experiences in hospitals previously so I was feeling nervous.

All the nurses in day surgery ward 3 gynaecology Claire, Siobhan, Caitlin, megan, shauni  and Jenifer were so so kind, attentive, caring and helpful. As well as the theatre staff Emma, Alison, Vhari and Leah again were so kind caring and attentive helping me relax and reassure me when I was getting my cannula put in for anaesthetic, on waking up I was still very sleepy so I can’t remember who was with me apart from me talking nonsense but again nothing to fault I felt in good hands and as promised emma left me a cream egg for me coming round :).

It was an absolute breeze start to finish I can’t fault anything everyone was amazing at their job and it just goes to show there is still care and compassion within the nhs unlike my past experience that have put me off, thank you to everyone from the nurses to the surgeons I can’t thank yous enough.

Dear September97,

Thank you for taking the time to leave our unit a Care Opinion feedback post. Feedback from patients is always warmly received by our staff. The words you have used to describe how you felt as a patient who was nervous about their procedure as receiving excellent care and reassurance from our staff is the standard of care we aim for each and every day here in the Day Surgery Unit. I am delighted to read that the care, empathy and compassion our staff demonstrated has restored your faith in our NHS.

I will ensure that your words of thankfulness are shared with specifically with the staff you have mentioned and the wider Day Surgery team. Feedback from our patients certainly keeps the team striving to deliver the best care they can every day.

I hope your cream egg tasted amazing once you were able to enjoy it and hoping you are now making a full and speedy recovery at home.

Best Wishes,

Mary Taylor

Lead Nurse

NVIC Day Surgery Unit.
