My son was admitted to the children's ward after becoming acutely unwell. He was assessed and treatment started within an hour. The Doctor who helped him was absolutely amazing with him. We stayed in for 2 days and myself and my son were treated with wonderful kindness and compassion in what was a very stressful situation for both of us. They all kept me informed what was happening etc and kept me calm, and everything was explained to my son in a way he could easily make sense of.
A really big grateful thanks to all the Doctors, reception staff, nursing staff, hcsw staff, domestic staff, Anp staff , (apologies if I have missed any,) who treated my son. A few days after this my younger child was booked in for a planned ent procedure under general anaesthetic. So, back to children's ward we went!! Again, they were all fantastic with my boy who was a bit anxious about it. I was an emotional wreck after the week I'd had and the staff were so good to me and reassuring. They even made my boy a wee personalised certificate to say how brave he had been which made his day,and gave him an Easter egg. He said he didn't feel scared at all about being in hospital. Again thanks to all the staff I mentioned above, but also including the theatre staff, ent consultant, anaesthetistsI feel incredibly lucky that we have such a brilliant team at Dgri, and knew my boys were in the best hands possible ,you honestly are all amazing! In the nicest possible way I hope it's not to soon before we are back!
