On the 16th September 2013, I began my first day of Peer Support Training. I was very apprehensive to begin with, knowing I’d be meeting new people. We shortly began team building exercises to ease the suspense. After the initial day, I was overwhelmed with information and we were assured that any part of the training we were unsure about, would be clarified in the next sessions.
We all bonded together well on the course, thanks to the confidence building activities.
All of us passed our presentations, which required a certain amount of preparation. For me, it wasn’t as easy as I anticipated as it brought up old memories. The fact that we were divided into groups, made it easier to deal with my inner emotions.
A large thanks have to go to Neville Wood, Mat, Nicky Bennett and Emma for making our course so interesting and helping us realise our full potential!
