"Our Miscarriage"

About: Forth Valley Royal Hospital / Gynaecology Forth Valley Royal Hospital / Women's outpatient clinics and investigations

(as the patient),

Initially we were referred to Forth Valley Royal Hospital from the ACU Ninewells Dundee as we had our early pregnancy scan and there was no heartbeat, after a repeat scan we went along to FVRH unannounced for the next steps. On arrival to Ward 6, we were met with Laura who was exceptionally accommodating, showed empathy and took the time to listen to why we were there and supported us as best she could before we left. She explained thoroughly the process at FVRH in regards to miscarriages and booked us in the following week for a follow up scan. She was an angel!

In mid March our miscarriage began naturally, my wife called Ward 6 as advised by Laura the week before to let them know. My wife explained what was happening to Nicola on the phone and due to how unwell I was they wanted to see me straight away. When we arrived at Ward 6, we were taking right away by Kara and she amazing at getting us settled before seeing the consultant. I am unsure who the two doctors were on shift that evening, but we would like to thank them for the outstanding care we received.

The following day we received a follow up telephone call from a girl called Shawna to check in on us. Again she was amazing! So understanding, and took the time to make sure we were both okay and if we needed any support from them. She took the time to listen to how we were both feeling and just listened. She was so professional and showed empathy the entire phone call.

We would both like to thank Ward 6 and all involved above for exceptional care and support we received on. both our visits.

Dear Duffy17

Thank you for taking the time to highlight the recent care you and your wife received in Ward 6. I am sorry to learn of your miscarriage which can be a very emotional experience to go through. I'm glad the support and care that was provided to you both helped at this time.

The staff really do an amazing job everyday, and their empathy and compassion in such circumstances really show's how much they care.

Please be assured that I will inform the staff members involved in your care how their support helped you both through your loss.

I hope you are both healing, and I wish you well for the future.

Best Wishes

Kirsty MacInnes
