"Ravens Craig ward Kirkcaldy"

About: Whytemans Brae Hospital / Adult mental health

(as a service user),

I voluntarily admitted myself with help from my husband and friend to whytemans brae in kirkcaldy 2 and a half weeks ago. I was very unwell and was absolutely petrified of my surroundings.

The staff on the ward were absolutely amazing right from the start. I had suffered a small period of psychosis and was absolutely petrified. I was having a severe mental health crisis. The staff were calm, caring, patient, reassuring and always trying their best to help me given the tough times they face during such staff shortage and time.
I needed medical help and care and I received that. Once i was well enough to move from a single room to the beds on a ward they gave me their time and patience as every transition I experienced was terrifying.

As I became more and more well, I noticed how stretched they were but saw they did their best to make sure they took care of all their patients and not just the ones who continually presented themselves in front of the staff.

At evey level and part of the ward, the staff were fantastic. In particular I give my huge thanks to Nicola, Jemima, Martin, Dr ArolNathan, Douglas, Yogi and Susy but i can honestly say there is not  one staff member who is unmemorable.

Thanks for all your help. You will never know how much the help and support helped me in the ward but also helped me get ready and feel more confident i can continue to get better in the community.

Thanks for saving me

Dear Nicnac123

Thank you so much for taking the time to post your feedback about your experience of mental health care, treatment and support at our service in Kirkcaldy recently. I am very sorry to hear of the difficulties you experienced and so very glad that the care team worked with you to support you through this so effectively - I will share your feedback with our service team to ensure the team hears this. Hearing from people who experience care is so powerful and your feedback will really help us recognise and value the importance of person-centred care for everyone.
