"Standard of treatment"

About: The Ulster Hospital / Emergency Department The Ulster Hospital / Gastro Hub

(as a service user),

Went to hospital recently with serve abdominal pain on left side high up. My bloods apparently were slightly rise for Amylease and red blood cells. I was given painkillers, fluids and anti-sickness then was seen by a lively, funny doctor, which was very nice.

The doctor was sending me home with anti-sicknesses, but a nurse in yellow zone  took the line out of my arm and bent it back that much it hurt that bad I was in tears. The nurse then went on to say they hurt me but that didn’t stop them from being so rude etc.

The doctor was away to sort meds out for going home and next minute the nurse came back over saying that the doctor isn’t giving me anything as I had all meds, which was not true. I asked for another cotton ball as my arm was bleeding badly. The nurse then yelled at me this was my fault, etc. After they finally got the cotton ball over where the line came out, the nurse told me to get out and go home, not to come back. So I left ED in tears and very sore .

I phoned out of hours and told them I was sent home with rised levels and told I should never have been let out of hospital in the first place, and that I should be admitted for possible pancreatitis, etc.

I went back over for triage, again bloods done, then was about to sit on seat in orange and the doctor ask why was I back, told them they should have looked at my notes properly cause they could clearly see I didn't need a pregnancy test. But clearly asks for one, I told them no as no way I can get pregnant this became quite hurtful again, and the doctor went on to ask me to explain what a hysterectomy was.

I finally got to the ward on gastro where I was given a corridor bed with not much privacy!

In the earlier hours my oxygen levels were sitting at 97-93 then stay at 93 with someone who suffers from cystic fibrosis, they didn’t know what to do and asked me should I be on oxygen really. Then I had to walk from one end of the ward to another struggling to breathe, I ask for the doctor as I can’t breath, a nurse came around to check my levels again, my bp was low and oxygen levels at 80. It was only then I was on oxygen.

When the doctor came round to see me they were surprised to see me on oxygen and said you're not normally on this, to my reply nope and ordered a d dimmer test to check for clots, thankfully no clot!

All day I had to carry oxygen out to the toilet outside of ward alone, this was not on by any means . Most of the staff on gastro were amazing. Like but seriously this really needs looked at ASAP .

The nurse at one point before I was moved into a room called the doctor to say I was having chest pain when I wasn’t but when I needed the doctor as I could breathe they wouldn’t get the doctor.

Just before I left hospital a doctor stated that I have been to A&E a lot of times with this pain and should go any more and that I’ve been hospitalised 3 times in year.
