"Failure to communicate with other health care providers"

About: Glasgow Royal Infirmary / Cardiology (Wards 19, 24, 43a, 43b & 44a)

(as a service user),

Following an episode of Covid in 2022, I developed orthostatic tachycardia. It took a long time despite clear indicators that this might meet criteria for POTs.

After referral to cardiology at Glasgow Royal Infirmary, guidance was given to my GP about treatment. On follow-up late last year, further decisions were made about management of this condition, with recommendations for further changes in medication if no improvement was experienced.

Despite enquiries from my GP to the cardiologist, continuing delays in any response means that the detriment to my health has now now continued for about 2 years.

I feel the continuing failure of the cardiologist to liaise with my GP is the single factor that is isolating me from active health care and living a healthier life.

Dear Shadow 53

Thank you for getting in touch via Care Opinion.

It is disappointing to read about the ongoing communication issues between your GP and the Cardiology Team and for the detrimental impact this is having. As Care Opinion is anonymous, can you please contact my colleague, Sharon Harrison, Clinical Service Manager, on 0141 201 6347 to discuss your concerns further.

Thank you

Nicole
