"Perth Midwifery Team"

About: Perth Royal Infirmary / Community Midwifery Unit

(as a service user),

We had a wonderful experience of care from the Perth Midwifery Team, who supported us right through pregnancy to the birth of our baby girl.

Our named midwife Emma was absolutely fantastic. She was caring, reassuring, knowledgable and always went above and beyond in supporting us and organising my antenatal care and planning our  home birth. At  every appointment she took time to listen and answer my questions. She was very empathetic about this pregnancy following a miscarriage. She respected my choices and decisions about my antenatal care and birth plans,  and always ensured these were informed . She was clearly really passionate about her job and giving the best care to families and their babies. I am so grateful for everything she has done for us to ensure that bringing our wee one into the world was such a positive experience.

When I went into labour, we had to come into the Perth midwife unit for our baby’s birth, rather than a home birth. While this was not what we had planned, the experience was brilliant and so positive.  Our midwives Cheryl and Student midwife Amel were amazing. They made us feel like the Unit was our home from home.

Emma was there to see us when we arrived in the morning and then handed over to Cheryl and Amel.

We felt safe and confident that the birth of our baby girl would be positive. Every aspect of my birth plan was respected without us having to discuss it again. Cheryl and Amel were kind, calm and reassuring and believed in me when I didn’t believe in myself .

They not only looked after me and our baby but also my husband and made our other teenage children and family  who came in to visit feel so welcome. The experience was so special and positive, we will have really wonderful memories of it to share with our baby when she grows up!  Thank you so much also to the whole Perth midwife Team , everyone we met was lovely, professional and welcoming.

Hello Kirsty822

Congratulations to you and your family on the birth of your beautiful baby girl.

We are so pleased you had such great continuity of care with your named midwife Emma. We continuously strive to provide care and support to women, which is tailored and individualised to their wishes and choices. We are so happy you had such a great experience and felt that you were fully informed and supported.

Whilst we note you did not have the home birth you had wished we are delighted you had a fabulous experience in our birthing unit, and it felt a home from home. We pride ourselves on providing such calming and intimate birthing rooms. One of our key objectives is also to focus on the individual needs of each family and we are pleased your family was present during this special time, and made to feel welcome.

We will share your kind comments with Emma, Cheryl, Amel and the rest of the team.

Many thanks again for taking the time to send us such inspiring and positive feedback. We hope you have had enjoyed these early days with your baby girl and family. Congratulations again.

Best wishes

Lauren Cameron
