"Staffing difficulties"

About: Rampton Hospital

(as a service user),

on Ruby ward at the minute there is such a shortage of staff. it's hard for the patients because at times we can;t get our needs met. for example, at times staff can't do what we need, like going to the laundry, or phone calls. they do try there best but at times it can be quite frustrating. they do still try there best to have named nurse sessions, but again they can't guarantee that they can spare the time. they are still there for you and do try to cater for everyone's needs, but it can still be difficult.

Thank you taking the time to share your experience with us. I appreciate how frustrating it must be not to be able to have your needs met when you would like them to be. I am grateful to the staff for trying their best to give you the experience you deserve during a challenging time.

The hospital leadership team meet twice a day to look at the distribution of staff across the site. This ensures that resources are distributed fairly, taking into consideration last minute shortfalls such as sickness and absence and responding to any increase in clinical activity.

As a hospital we continue to work on improving staffing in ward areas through our ongoing recruitment and retention plan, to ensure that you have the right amount of staff, with the right skills to provide care that meets your needs. Many staff are awaiting start dates for induction and we are also shortlisting for more Health Care Assistants at the present time.

I am really sorry that you have experienced this recently but want to reassure you that we are doing everything we can to try to improve staffing within the ward areas and I am hopeful that this will continue to improve further over the coming months.
