"Shameful service"

About: Vocare

(as the patient),

I was referred to Vocare Newcastle upon Tyne via NHS 111 service. This was a telephone assessment as it was out of hours. I was spoken to by a doctor here, never again. The attitude of the doctor was astounding. I have serious health issues but I would never again ask for pain meds or antibiotics after how I was treated.

The doctor seemed to lose their temper and shouted at me because I asked too many questions. Since I am on several medications for several different conditions I was asking those questions to make sure any meds I was prescribed would be safe to take together as it can be dangerous to mix different types of medicines as they can interact. I suffered a haemorrhage 20 years ago when two drugs I was prescribed interacted and depleted my platelet count so my blood wouldn't clot properly. Given this, I thought asking questions was exactly the responsible thing to do, but not according to this doctor.

I am disgusted with this doctor and the service. There was no concern, compassion. All they seemed to care about was time constraints. If someone like me isn't given the time to discuss my health concerns then I believe the service is failing and not fit for purpose. The state of the service was, I feel, a hazard and I as a patient was not safe. The medical people I spoke to gave me the impression they really didn't care.
