Sent to minor injuries by GP, concerned that a cut on my 3 year old granddaughters hand was infected. Receptionist very friendly and professional. Triage nurse was neither, she didn’t talk to my granddaughter at all, and didn’t explain that she was doing - clip on finger, thermometer in ear. Just focussed on her computer asking questions, including what school she attended - she’s 3. Then moved to a very crowded waiting area, over 30 people, with a sign stating there was a 4 hour wait. Over an hour in the small ‘play room’ was enough, granddaughter was now bored and hungry. Didn’t seem like many people had been seen it that time so expected the wait to be longer than another 3 hours. Informed receptionist we were leaving and was asked to complete a form to state it was our choice to leave. What has happened to our NHS, can’t get a GP appointment, 20 mile round trip to local minor injuries clinic, rude staff, long waiting times, poor facilities/environment (especially for children). Meanwhile there is the
Fareham Community Hospital that is under used. Ended up taking my granddaughter to the pharmacist whose advice was to use Savlon cream on the wound and go the GP if it gets worse. Back to the beginning then!
