"Amazing day surgery experience"

About: University Hospital Monklands / Day Surgery University Hospital Monklands / Ear, Nose & Throat (Ward 9)

(as the patient),

I had day surgery and was very anxious sitting on my own. The staff were busy signing everyone in for surgery but still noticed me and made sure I understood and felt OK.

I was sat in the bay and got checks done then what felt like 2 minutes later someone else was in checking this continued till I went to the recovery room to await my turn in theatre. I wasn't there long when I went to get my anesthesia. The 3 people there were just as amazing as the staff previously. Putting me at ease and talking away.

Surgery was fine, then it was time to wake up. All went great, all the staff back in the day unit were great and helped me with anything I needed.

Unfortunately I had to be moved to ward 9 to be around more doctors and everyone had been great and friendly here, but as not as much staff but more patients. You see less of the staff but again all fine and nothing is an issue.

I was very scared coming to hospital and my anxiety levels were sky high but I felt much better by the great staff and student nurses who will be great staff nurses when they qualify.

Thank you to everyone involved in my care start to finish.

Dear nitrateyy73

Thank you so much for taking the time to tell us about your very positive experience in Day Surgery, Theatres and Ward 9 during your recent admission for surgery.

I am aware what an anxious time this can be and am glad that staff were able to make this a comfortable experience for you.

With best wishes for your ongoing recovery

Kind Regards
