I suffered a stroke in autumn 2023. Traumatic experience which I hope is never to be repeated.
Support from Emergency Services; hospital care and post hospital services has been second to none for which I offer my sincere thanks!
I was enrolled for an 8 week post stroke self management course at Blantyre Life. The course itself was professional and useful but most positive of all was the opportunity to meet others who had suffered/were suffering from the same traumatic experience.
Listening to their personal stories, sufferings and hopeful expectations was inspiring.
I wish them all a healthy continuation.
If I could add one suggestion for future course content, it would be an opening session which clinically explains what has happened to us. Doctors do not have the time to explain this to victims and therefore I would have liked a structured presentation of the stroke and an opportunity to discuss and ask some important questions.
Thanks to all NHS staff involved in this care.
