What an excellent service from the IBD team based at the RAH in Paisley.
Following a flare up I followed the instructions on the patient advice leaflet. The leaflet is so clear about what to do to manage a flare up and additional steps to take if things don’t settle. It includes contact numbers of the department which is helpful, as you get through to the people who can help. I’d left a message on the team answering machine but despite them calling me back twice I managed to miss the calls. Other services might just have left it at that but the team secretary wrote to me with a date and time for a telephone consultation with one of the nurse specialists. This was arranged for within a couple of days so I wasn’t left worrying about my condition for any length of time.
The consultation itself was great. I felt listened to and was given a personalised explanation and management plan which included anticipating further needs. The CNS was very professional and caring, was contacting my GP to arrange some just in case meds and I felt a weight had been taken off me.
