"The never ending appointment."

About: Poole Hospital

I have just had my 6th appointment cancelled. Original appointment September 23. The 7th rescheduled now for May 24. I appreciate the stress the service is under, I accept there will be cancellations, but 6, that pushes the boundaries of hope! After receiving excellent service as an inpatient, the outpatient experience is completely opposite. I have low expectations of the May appointment being honoured.

Dear Anonymous,

It is so disappointing to hear that you have had six appointments cancelled. This must be very frustrating and I can understand your dissatisfaction. I write with sincere apologies on behalf of the Trust for so many cancellations. Unfortunately there are many reasons why appointments are changed, ranging from staff sickness, operational pressures and more recently strike action and winter pressures. In your particular case I am not sure why the appointment dates have been moved. If you would like this investigated further then please do contact the patient experience team with your details and we can look into this. The contact information for the Patient Experience Team is via email to patientexperienceteam@uhd.nhs.uk or telephone 0300 019 8499.

It is good to hear that you have had good inpatient experiences but I am very sorry for those as an outpatient.

Thank you for your feedback about this matter and also your on-going patience whilst you await an appointment.

Kind Regards

Patient Experience Team
