"Warm, caring and skilled staff"

About: Royal Victoria Hospital / Accident & Emergency Royal Victoria Hospital / Cardiac surgery Royal Victoria Hospital / Cardiology

(as a relative),

My husband recently had a coronary and was treated first by ED, rapid response Cath Lab, ward 5D, cardiac theaters, cardiac ICU & HDU and 5A.

From the moment we arrived in ED until we left 4 weeks later we experienced warm, caring and skilled staff. Everything was explained and re-explained as we went through the shock of what had happened.

My husband was cared for and everyone created such a positive, supportive environment which was so appreciated.

The wards were spotless and continually cleaned. During his stay in ICU when he felt particularly vulnerable he said he felt so safe and cared for.

My one comment is that the sign in the relatives' room in ED which said Resus Relatives Room did scare me, even though I am a member of Belfast Trust and knew the procedure. Being on the other side of the bed is a different experience.

Thank you to Mr Jeganethan, Mr Hooks, Dr Johnston, all the MDT and PCSS staff in 5D, Cardiac Theatres, CSICU and 5A.
