Both my wife and I were referred to the Frailty team.
They were most helpful.
Over the last few weeks have found very few people have an approach appropriate to the situation, with very little sympathy. This is not the case with the Frailty team.
They offered support, encouragement, and hope which I am most grateful for.
So many other people unfortunately in the NHS appear jobsworth to the situation, I am disappointed in their attitude, made to feel patients get in the way. Whereas the Frailty team are always on the side of the patient, wanting to help and going the extra mile to assure people things are not so bad.
We have been married for 58 years and used to seeing my wife everyday so when she was in hospital, I was not able to visit due to mobility problems. I very worried as could not give her support and unable to sleep as so used to her being there. I felt other teams could not understand this.
My wife is slowly getting back to the person I know.
The frailty team left me feeling there is a future for us both.
Team members were prepared to sit and listen, make useful comments with sympathy -found this refreshing and helpful. Able to answer questions and offer reassurance.
They are welcome here anytime.
